What your institution can sign with FirmaHoy
Each country regulates by law which acts a public institution may sign with an electronic signature and which require a qualified signature — also called certified, advanced or accredited depending on the country.
The difference lies in the certificate. At FirmaHoy, documents are signed with the Adobe AATL certificate assigned to FirmaHoy as a platform, and each signer's identity is recorded in the audit certificate: who signed, how they authenticated, when and from where. In a qualified or certified signature, the certificate is personal: it is issued in the name of the person signing, after verifying their identity with their ID document and, frequently, through biometric means such as video identification, via a state-accredited provider.
What FirmaHoy offers
Electronic signature with an Adobe AATL certificate, the international standard that any PDF reader validates: document hash, timestamp and full traceability of every signature. It is the right signature for the administrative work your country's law allows to be signed electronically.
What FirmaHoy does not offer
The qualified or certified signature with in-person or biometric identity verification, issued by an accredited provider. For the acts your law reserves for that signature, the formal channel remains.
How to confirm it
- Locate your country's electronic signature law and its regulations; almost all of them expressly distinguish between electronic signature and qualified or certified signature. Our Signature Types guide (in the main menu) explains those categories and how they compare with international standards.
- Identify which of your institution's acts require the qualified signature — usually those with special formalities or effects on third parties — and which admit an electronic signature: correspondence, minutes, reports and internal procedures are the usual case.
